Do you control your fire? Is it still lit? Or did people or life put it out? So, what are you going to do now to light that fire?

I saw Chef Jose Andres on the CBS Morning Show, and he talked about his dad who would like to cook over an open fire. When Jose was young, he wanted to cook as well, but his dad told him he needed to learn to control the fire first.

Have to say when he quoted his dad, it struck me because really the fire can stand for anything in your life good, bad or indifferent. We can call this fire our passion, purpose, etc…

But truth is we must control it, fuel it, grow it or bring it down to a simmer.

So how is it done? I guess that’s what I am trying to figure out even now. Post retirement has really given me the opportunity to do some self-examination. Like what do I what? Where do I want to go? Am I the person I am supposed to be? What am I missing or what am I still supposed to learn before my fire goes out.

Some say as we get older, we get wiser, not sure that’s true. I sometimes I feel I know less than I did before. Or maybe I just question more…how about you? Are you controlling your fire? Or you allowing others to fuel it or let it go out?

Just something to ponder.

Until next time folks…Chau
